So in the spirit of Halloween, I bought these wonderful "fronts" or as some would call, "grills." We took these pictures the other night and Emma could barley get them in her mouth because they were so big! BUT, she wanted to be like Daddy! Of course he was the first to put them in and pose for the pictures, as I was and always am the more hesitant one to pose for such discriminating pictures. The one of Emma will definitely make it to her wedding slide show one day! I am sure she will hate me for it, but she will just have to forgive me! Besides, at that point she will have already said "I do" and the man she married will already be locked in to our twisted family with no where to run! :~) I will post more pictures later today when Emma gets dressed up as a cowgirl for Halloween. And who truly knows what Ian will come up with for a costume, so stay tuned! Love, Us!
About Us
- ddoboyle
- Life as a Coast Guard family is never boring! Move after move we learn a little more about ourselves and how to adjust to change. We learn that one minute you can live in a tropical climate and then the next the Coast Guard says it is time for you to experience snow. That is where we are at in our Coast Guard journey...snow. Our current location is Seward, Alaska! We are all still adjusting to the switch from flip-flops to snow boots, but we are excited about our first WHITE Christmas! Then in July of 2012, it's where God and the Coast Guard sends us next!

Family: The most important relationships to nurture!
As we spend time on the road to visit our families, I began to ponder over how important our realtionships with family are why they are the first relationships we neglect. As our busy lives take more and more of our time, we forget to send cards, make the ocassional "just thinking of you" call, or even better, we fail to make the needed time to visit. Ian, Emma, and I will be a part of the Coast Guard and their plans for our lives for at a minimum of 9 1/2 more years, but we have the ability to make the choice to not that as an excuse. In an honest effort to "make time" for my family, I encourage you to do the same. and ps...your friendships should be nutured just the same.
Love to you all.

Its been toooo long.......
Wow....November 3rd was our last post! I warned ya'll that I am bad at this! Well a lot has happened since November! We got a new puppy! I know, I know! We said after Peaches, no more, but Ian wanted a dog of his own and Emma seconded that request so we now have Murphy. He is now 5 months old, weighs 43 pounds and is a complete disaster. Ian was surprised how much work goes into raising a puppy, especially a lab puppy. He has been a blessing to our family more than a mistake and we truly do love him. Emma has a partner in crime now. She has taught him how to jump over the couch and has learned how to blame things on the dog! It was only a matter of time since she doesn't have a sibling to put the blame on. BUT, we are working on that! :~)
Other wonderful things: Ian advanced to First Class and re-enlisted for 6 more years in the Coast Guard. He has already reached his 10 year mark and is excited to begin the next step in his career- a new boat. Ian is attempting a new endeavor and is trying to transfer to a buoy tender here in Morgan City. We will know more by the end of the year, but if he succeeds we will be in Louisiana for 3 more years. This is a decision we have both dedicated a lot of prayer towards and will be happy with whatever God decides. We know He has a purpose for our lives and we are happy to serve Him where ever he sends us.
As for me, I have been busy with online classes, a part-time job at our local gym, play dates, family, and church. I am inching towards a December/January graduation with only 6 classes left to receive my Bachelors Degree in Business Management. I am VERY excited and ready to be finished with the late nights of writing papers. I am sure Ian is ready to have his wife back as I seem to live a double life when school is in session. Jekyll and Hyde......
Emma is growing, growing, growing! We started the enrollment process for K-3 and she is pumped! She starts school in August for a half a day and is so ready to be a "BIG girl." She loves to learn and is a pretty smart cookie. She adds an enormous amount of humor to our lives. We love every minute of it. She just celebrated her 3rd birthday and is already planning her 4th!
Well we love you guys and hope you enjoy the update and pictures. We miss you and hope to see everyone sooooooon!!!
